山姆·弗朗西斯, 美國畫家和版畫家，出生在加利福尼亞州，以其豐富多彩的大型抽象畫而聞名，是第二次世界大戰(zhàn)后第一批贏得國際聲譽(yù)的畫家之一。二戰(zhàn)中在美國空軍服過兵役，空難后在后方療養(yǎng)的幾年時(shí)間里，開始對繪畫產(chǎn)生了興趣。他融合抽象表現(xiàn)主義，色域繪畫，印象派和東方哲學(xué)等元素，創(chuàng)造了一種獨(dú)特的繪畫抽象風(fēng)格。
